Mortality Tables is a project which was recently launched by journalist Mat Smith who writes for Electronic Sound and Clash among others, but whom you might know best for his sleevenotes to accompany the recent Erasure reissues.
The second Mortality Tables release was launched today in the shape of a track entitled ‘On Mortality, Immortality & Charles Ives’ which is now available to hear and purchase via BandCamp using the button below.
The track is a spoken-word piece which features Mat reading what can be loosely considered to be the Mortality Tables manifesto. That narration, recorded by Gareth Jones, was then sent to Vince Clarke who recorded a musical response to the text which provides the soundtrack to the release.
