EIS Website Archive

The EIS website has undergone several major changes in its history. Presented here is an archive of each of the major transformations that have occured to this website since 1998.

ScreenshotLaunched around 1998, the original website for the Erasure Information Service was very much of a companion to the printed EIS publication 'Private Ear'.

The contents of the site, although limited, featured a brief news section and allowed for the purchasing of merchandise. The close ties of the EIS and Mute are much in evident.

ScreenshotWith the 'Private Ear' magazine ceasing publication, the website expanded its remit in late 2000 to include historical information, a discography (complete with audio samples), unique interviews and photos galleries.

The radical redesign of the site began the trend of mirroring the artwork of the current Erasure release (in this case the Erasure Singles Box sets), a tradition which continues to this day.

ScreenshotWith the impending release of the 'Other People's Songs' album, the website changed again.

Being rather more forward looking than the previous incarnation of the website, it jettisoned the historical / archival based content in favour of concentrating on the new album and tour.

ScreenshotAnother metamorphosis of the site was brought about by the release of the 'Hits! The Very Best Of Erasure' collection.

The launch of this site in late 2003 was designed to increase the interaction with and between the members of the EIS, as demonstrated with the addition of the fan gallery, the contact section and of course the EIS Forum.

This version of the site had a brief 'Phantasmagorical' rebrand before being replaced with the current incarnation of the website.
