"This is one of the few songs that existed in part before the Maine hotel room writing sessions.

Before we started this album, I was really keen for it not to be mid-tempo - I'm having a mid-tempo crisis! Our albums seem to have got slower and slower, so I started searching for classic funk or disco baselines, put some ideas together with chord changes and baselines underneath, and emailed them to Andy for him to sing over the top.

The song, like this album, is quite 'up' and up tempo because we're both in good spaces right now.

The DVD/CD release of "On The Road To Nashville" is out now in North America. This release has been getting great reviews and captures what was certainly an unique show at the Ryman Auditorium last year.

It is available mailorder from Amazon US (as well as local retailers). In addition the audio of the concert (as featured on the CD) is also now available from the iTunes (US) and iTunes (UK) stores.

Andy Bell was recently interviewed for Billboard.com, where he reveals some interesting details on the new Erasure album and live performances for later in the year. Visit billboard.com for the full article.

After an unexpected acoustic detour with last year's "Union Street," veteran synth-pop duo Erasure is back in familiar territory for "Light at the End of the World," due May 22 via Mute. The 10-track set was recorded last fall at a converted studio in Portland, Maine.

Vocalist Andy Bell tells Billboard.com the material was derived both from backing tracks Vince Clarke had sent to him via email and two writing sessions the pair held together in Maine. Bell also took great joy in playing Clarke favorite music from his iPod as inspiration for the new album's sound.

Erasure will debut new material this summer during the True Colors tour, which will also feature Cyndi Lauper, Blondie's Debbie Harry and the Gossip. "I feel like I'm in the company of these grand dames," says Bell of the outing, scheduled to begin in June in Seattle. From there, Erasure will play some headlining shows in North America then head to Europe. A gig at London's Royal Albert Hall is also in the works.

The forthcoming new Erasure single "I Could Fall In Love With You" will feature remixes by both Jeremy Wheatley and Lee Monteverde.

There will also be an additional track (the b-side) titled "I Like It".

12th February sees the digital download release of the "On The Road To Nashville" live audio on various digital download sites. This digital download is the same audio as on the bonus CD that is packaged with the DVD release.

The DVD & CD set of "On The Road To Nashville" is available now in the UK / Europe and is released in North America on the 20th February.

128 tracks over 10 CDs, Mute Audio Documents is a unique insight into the musical development of the label and its artists, highlighting the influence, the success and, most importantly, the great music produced since its inception in 1978.

Mute Audio Documents is a collection of Mute's single releases from 1978 to 1984 and includes the first 4 double CD volumes of an ongoing series plus a 2 CD rarities album exclusive to the box set. The series will feature all the A-side and B-side single tracks released by Mute in addition to album tracks by the artists for whom there were only album releases.

Mute emerged in the post-punk era. It was a new era of pop democracy, and anyone could make a record. You didn't even need to know three chords, according to Mute founder Daniel Miller. All you needed, he said, was an idea.

His 'idea' was to create a classic of DIY pop - a double A sided 7" single featuring the songs T.V.O.D. and Warm Leatherette. He called himself The Normal, designed a sleeve with Letraset, stuck the name Mute on it, and accidentally started a record label.

You only have to listen to the music gathered on these 10 CDs to see how Mute became the blueprint for maverick independence and sonic adventurousness - a blueprint that countless labels follow to this day.
